In the summer of 2024, while shooting some images for the Sci Club San Vigilio 1946, I had an idea: why not turn these shots into a documentary film that tells the story of the entire competitive season? This is how "Beyond the Finish Line" was born, a project that celebrates the passion, commitment and history of the Sci Club San Vigilio 1946, in view of its 80th anniversary in January 2026.
A journey through an intense season
The documentary follows the athletes and staff of the Sci Club San Vigilio 1946 during an entire season, documenting not only the activities on the snow, but also the summer training: gym, tennis, mountain biking and sessions at the sports field. I followed the team in two significant races: one "at home" at Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) and the other in Val Casies, capturing the essence of competition and team spirit.
Technology at the service of storytelling
To realize this project, I experimented with the use of new technologies. The texts were written by me and then refined with the help of artificial intelligence, transforming them into voiceovers through the video editing app CapCut. However, the use of AI still requires a solid knowledge of the Italian language and writing techniques: an automatically generated text needs revision to ensure coherence, grammatical correctness and fluency.
A work of passion and dedication
The project required a significant commitment: I followed 12 days of filming, including training and competitions, as well as several hours dedicated to specific details. Editing took about 10 days, while writing the texts and the subject of the documentary took up an entire day. Each scene was carefully chosen, each piece of music selected by Artlist.io to evoke the right emotions, and color grading was applied to give a cinematic look to the final product.
Music, words and images: a story that excites and inspires
In this documentary, every element – from the choice of music, to the rhythm of the images, to the narrative voice – has been designed to involve the viewer in a profound way. The association of sounds, words and real scenes has been built with the aim of exciting, of making the viewer experience first-hand that world made of snow, commitment and passion.
Through visual and audio narration, we wanted to convey not only the chronicle of a season, but also a universal sporting moral: the value of effort, respect, team play and personal growth.
Anyone who watches, even from outside San Vigilio di Marebbe or from the Sci Club San Vigilio 1946, can find themselves in these stories, because they tell something that goes beyond skiing. They tell life.
A special first screening
The first viewing of "Beyond the Finish Line" took place during the general assembly of the Sci Club San Vigilio 1946, at the Raiffeisen Bank Hall in San Vigilio di Marebbe. Parents, sponsors, the board of directors, coaches and athletes were present, and it was an opportunity to share the work done and celebrate together the history and future of the Sci Club.

A replicable format to tell the story of sport
This docufilm represents an innovative format, replicable in other sports fields. A way to tell with images and words the stories of passion, sacrifice and growth that sport can offer. With "Beyond the Finish Line", I wanted to pay homage to the Sci Club San Vigilio 1946 and the community of San Vigilio di Marebbe, showing how sport unites people and builds lasting bonds.
